has just published an innovative publication entitled: The
Handbook of Community Safety, Gender & Violence Prevention:
Practical Planning Tools. The book has already generated a
great deal of interest and praise for the practical applicability

Winners named
in Competition for Safe Cities for Women and Girls in LAC
Region
|
|
Maipú, Chile; San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina;
and Solidaridad, Mexico are the winners of the IV Regional
Competition on Women and Friendly Cities: Safer Cities for
Women and Girls in Latin America and the Caribbean. The awards
ceremony for this competition was held in San José,
Costa Rica on March 6, 2008 and hosted by the national UN
Habitat Office. The awards ceremony simultaneously acted as
an important networking session, bringing together women's
groups from the region and internationally to share experiences
and build partnerships. To

: Building Community-Based Partnerships for Local Action on
Women's Safety

June 2007. Following the pilot project involving six canadian
communities, Women in Cities International have produced a
guide for community-based women's groups to create partnerships
with their local municipal government on women's safety. To

Participation of
Women in Cities International to the World Urban Forum
|

Women in Cities International and its partners organized
four networking sessions during the World Urban Forum (Vancouver,
2006), aimed at integrating gender mainstreeming to the work
of WUF3. Women of all continents have joined the discussion.

| The proceedings of " Making
the links " - the International Seminar on Women's Safety
held in Montreal May 9 to 11, 2002 are now online. Participants
came from 55 cities in both the North and South to take part

| The Montréal Declaration
on Women's Safety |
The First International Seminar
on Women's Safety, culminated in the launch of the "Montréal
Declaration on Women's Safety", a call to all those concerned
to take action.
The Montréal Declaration has since been disseminated
at local, national, regional, and international levels. Thank
you for helping to share the Declaration in your networks, for
contributing to the implementation of its recommendations, and
